Originally only 500 "Walkinshaws" were ordered to meet the international group A racing regulations, this was lifted to 750 due to high demand, all of which were painted in Panorama Silver. TWR developed the aero kit and were able to reduce the drag from the previous Group A by 25%.
Under the bonnet was Holden's first V8 to have electronic fuel injection. The engine also featured twin throttle body intakes that sat higher than the bonnet line, requiring a raised bonnet scoop.
